Athletics

Our Track & Field team will travel to Cougar Mountain MS on Thursday, May 28. Cougar Mountain has very limited parking on campus for home and visiting spectators, so we are sharing tips and requests for parents, family and friends who may travel to the meet to cheer on the student athletes. Details enclosed.

Testing

The Smarter Balanced Assessment measures academic progress for all students in ELA, Math and, additionally for 8th graders in Science. Testing begins at 8:25 AM and typically ends by 10:10 AM each day.  Please avoid picking up your student from school during this time: there are multiple opportunities scheduled to make up missed testing, over the coming days, if you need to keep your student at home in the morning.

The staff of Pine Lake Middle School would like to say a huge thank you to the PTSA Staff Appreciation Committee & all our community members for the daily goodies and many notes of thanks this week, celebrating everything we do for our students. From lunches to thank you notes, gift cards to raffles, and many other treats in between the staff have felt very special every day!  Thank you!

We have a busy calendar now, through the end of the year, celebrating another successful school year at PLMS. For families to be able to plan we encourage you to note these dates and, where possible, please try to avoid collecting your students during these school day events, or allow extra time for staff to quietly locate your student.  

District

Transportation

An upcoming road closure will affect routes to and from school for some families and staff members in the South End of the district, and for those who commute through the area. King County’s Road Services Division will fully close Southeast May Valley Road at Fifteen Mile Creek Bridge for bridge replacement starting in mid-June 2026. We will communicate directly with those families with adjusted bus route drop-off and pick-up times. Details enclosed.

We are writing to share an update regarding the recent Canvas cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the company that operates Canvas. According to Instructure, the incident has been resolved. The company informed customers that the cyber criminals returned the data and indicated it was not publicly shared or retained. Canvas continues to operate normally.

With construction now underway, program planning for Issaquah School District’s newest high school is accelerating. Set to open in the fall of 2027, the New High School will build on the district’s strong tradition of excellence and innovation and expand opportunities for students through future-focused, career-connected learning experiences.

Our Transportation Team was recognized for a second year running for “exceptional results” in the recent Washington State Patrol inspection of our school bus fleet. During the May 7 School Board meeting, Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick recognized the whole department and, in particular, the mechanics.
