Microschool Students Explore Sustainability in Issaquah

Students outside Issaquah Food Bank

Our Microschool students kicked off their sustainability focus this year with a hands-on field trip to downtown Issaquah—starting with an environmentally conscious bus ride.

They visited Jakob Two Trees, the recycled-material troll whose story highlights protecting nature and honoring our local land and waterways. From there, the students put those values into action by volunteering at the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank, where they helped unpack and organize food donations. The Food Bank supports hundreds of families each week through food, clothing, youth programs, and other essential services.

The experience gave students a meaningful look at sustainability in both art and community service, all within our own neighborhood.
