Course Request Important information:

It is very important that students request the correct number of courses. Parents, please discuss your student’s course requests and make sure that classes totaling 7 credits are requested and at least 6 alternate courses are requested in the event that another course does not run due to lack of enrollment or it does not fit with other course requests. If a student has requested fewer than 7 credits and/or no alternates, the Counseling Office Staff will add selections for that student.

Please remember that there is no one right set of courses to take. Provided students pay attention to graduation requirements, there are many sound options and choices to make and their choices should reflect students’ individual interests and passions. In my experience, students who research course options using the Course Guide, talk with their families about their choices, follow their passion (not influenced by a friend’s course selections), double-check to make sure they are meeting graduation requirements, ask questions of our counselors and select multiple alternative courses are the happiest with their schedule.

Thank you in advance for the support of your student through the 2024-2025 Course Request Process!

Q&A Zoom for Parents with Skyline Counselors

Monday, March 11, 2024

8:00 a.m.

Skyward will close at 8:00 a.m. for Course Request Process

To make it helpful for students and parents, the CRP access will be open for two weekends. Once the Student Access request window closes, the administration team will begin the process of discerning how many sections of each course will run, which staff to assign to those sections and which positions to post and hire.  We make our course schedule based on student requests; therefore, it is very important that students think carefully about classes that they would like to take. Once the course schedule has been built, students will be automatically scheduled by Skyward with core classes prioritized and electives thereafter. If course requests do not align well in the system, counselors will work diligently to adjust schedules to meet the individual needs of students based on their original course requests and alternates.  Please remember that this is a course request process and placement is not guaranteed. Once the students have been scheduled, making changes is an option under exceptional circumstances.
